DESCRIPTION:The use of Positron Emission Tomography (PET) for cancer imagi
ng is a well-established and widely used molecular imaging modality both i
n clinical and research settings. PET offers the ability to quantitatively
measure biological and receptor-based processes using a wide spectrum of
specifically designed radiopharmaceuticals. The use of PET is expanding an
d the inclusion of longer-lived radiometal positron-emitters is broadening
the application and appeal of this imaging modality. The remarkable speci
ficity and selectivity of antibodies for cancer biomarkers have made immun
oglobulins some of the most flexible and adaptable tools in modern medicin
 e. For therapeutic purposes\, a wide range of non-labeled antibodies has n
ow entered the clinic. Antibody-based PET and SPECT imaging agents are not
far behind. For example\, an array of 89Zr-labeled radioimmunoconjugates
has shown significant promise in both preclinical and clinical studies. Th
is presentation will discuss the clinical deployment of radiolabeled antib
odies for both imaging and endoradiotherapy of cancer.
