DESCRIPTION:The lecture will review experimental studies from my lab\, whe
 re we use models of different length scale and complexity to understand th
 e responses of (circulating and adherent) cells and fibrous tissues to mec
 hanical and topological stimuli. The obtained knowledge is applied to rati
 onally design synthetic cellular niches and scaffolds to (re)build living 
 tissues\, in particular for the cardiovascular system. As an examples\, we
  develop degradable synthetic vessels and valves that trigger the formatio
 n of new tissue under hemodynamic loading conditions inside the human body
 .\n\n
