DESCRIPTION:The size and cost of stabilised\, high precision radial veloci
 ty spectrographs is prohibitive to a number of science cases: large target
  number RV surveys\, high-resolution integral field spectroscopy and coupl
 ed high contrast imaging/high dispersion spectroscopy observations to name
  a few. In this talk we will discuss the design and construction of a comp
 act (smaller than a shoe-box)\, low-cost (less than £10\,000)\, high-reso
 lution spectrograph prototype which is able to achieve comparable resolvin
 g power to its large scale contemporaries. With this proof-of-concept in m
 ind we will speculate on the applications of such a device and how this co
 uld impact the future of exoplanet instrumentation.
