DESCRIPTION:Ammonia contributes to the formation of fine particles or PM2.
5 that are hazardous to our health. Its relative contribution to PM2.5 is
increasing in Europe\, North America and China due decline in sulfate from
policies targeting SO2 sources and decline in nitrate from policies targe
ting NOx sources. There are no direct controls on ammonia from agriculture
\, the largest ammonia source in the UK\, and it is notoriously difficult
to accurately estimate emissions of ammonia due to dependence on farming a
ctivity and environmental factors. In this talk\, I will present research
underway in my group to determine long-term changes of ammonia in cities i
n the UK\, to estimate emissions of ammonia throughout the UK\, to evaluat
e the UK National Atmospheric Emission Inventory representation of ammonia
emissions\, and to assess regional influence of ammonia on air quality in
  a UK city.
