SUMMARY:Exploration Geology\, and Looking for Lithium in the UK - Lucy Cra
 ne - Cornish Lithium

DESCRIPTION:Lucy Crane is a senior geologist at Cornish Lithium\, an innov
ative mineral exploration company exploring for lithium and other battery
metals in Cornwall. Lithium is a key component of lithium ion batteries\,
and will play a crucial role in the energy transition as we move away from
fossil fuels and towards renewable energy and electric vehicles. It’s i
mportant that the raw materials this energy transition requires are extrac
ted as responsibly as possible – which is what Cornish Lithium are aimin
g to do. Their main focus is on lithium-enriched geothermal waters\, and t
hey are investigating the opportunity to use the geothermal energy also co
ntained within the waters to produce net-zero carbon lithium. In this talk
Lucy will describe the company’s approach to lithium exploration\, and
 results from recent drilling programmes.
LOCATION:The talk will be held virtually over zoom. The link will be circu
lated to members via email\, while non-members may contact jac293@cam.ac.u
