DESCRIPTION:At Graphika\, intelligence analysts and computational research
ers work together to investigate malicious disinformation campaigns and ex
tremist groups online. Network science and mapping of complex online netwo
rks is central to this work. We recently developed a new multi–modal app
roach to explore the co-evolution of ideas and communities on Twitter duri
ng the COVID–19 pandemic. We will describe our methodology and how it em
ploys network science\, topic modeling\, and statistical analysis to detec
t the convergence of online communities around specific topical narratives
. We will then elaborate how our results lead to new insights about the sp
read of health mis- and disinformation within conspiratorial communities i
n the spring and early summer of 2020.\n\nRelated Links:\n\nblog: https://
