DESCRIPTION:Forty years ago\, the mainframe was king\, providing the compu
 tational backbone for a series of dumb terminals. From then onwards\, the 
 focus was on shifting a large portion of computation away from centralised
  servers and towards desktop machines. However\, with an ever increasing n
 umber of less-powerful devices gaining internet connectivity\, a new field
  is emerging\, in which computation is once again pushed back into a centr
 al core\, now provided by the cloud of the internet. Is the future of comp
 uting to move back to where we started?\n\nThis talk will discuss the prin
 ciples of cloud computing\, the implications it will have on the way we us
 e software\, and a look into what the future might hold.
