DESCRIPTION:Loop Quantum Gravity (LQG) is an attempt to formulate a quantu
 m theory of General Relativity by using the canonical framework\, which re
 cently has received a lot of attention. I will give an overview of the pri
 nciples and ideas behind this attempt. Along the lines of this theory\, se
 veral choices are made\, and I will present the history and motivations th
 at lie behind those choices. I will talk about the achievements of LQG\, a
 bout problems encountered\, and\ntime permitting\, about future developmen
 ts and connections to the Spin Foam\napproach\, which is believed to be a 
 covariant path integral for LQG.
