DESCRIPTION:Cross Laminated Timber (CLT) is increasingly being used in the
built environment for multiple reasons including economy\, constructabili
ty\, sustainability and architectural merit. Recent interest from industry
in CLT deep beams with openings has highlighted the lack of knowledge and
design guidance on the in-plane properties of CLT. This project aims to c
ontribute valuable information by assessing the applicability of the most
common reinforced concrete deep beam design method\, the strut-and-tie met
hod\, for CLT deep beams with openings. This talk will introduce CLT deep
beams\, their challenges and how this project aims to fill in the knowledg
e gap on CLT deep beam design.
