DESCRIPTION:Graphene and two-dimensional (2D) materials have been research
 ed intensely over the past 15 years\, and there is continued substantial i
 nvestment in 2D material research and development. However\, although phys
 icists\, chemists\, material scientists and engineers continue to report n
 ew highlights on a daily basis\, there are no end-customer microelectronic
 s products on the market today. The main reason is that the process techno
 logy to manufacture 2D electronics is not sufficiently mature\, which limi
 ts the possibility of realizing the promise of outstanding performance in 
 electronics\, optoelectronics or sensing. In this talk\, I will introduce 
 several potential applications\, where 2D materials clearly would make a d
 ifference\, such as photodetectors and sensors. I will then discuss the ma
 jor bottlenecks towards integration of graphene and 2D materials into semi
 conductor manufacturing lines.\n\nAbout the speaker\nThe electrical engine
 er Prof. Max Lemme has been working for several years on graphene and rela
 ted two-dimensional materials and their applications in the fields of elec
 tronics\, photonics and sensors. In addition Prof. Lemme has a strong trac
 k-record on classic CMOS technology and was particularly active in the int
 egration of high-k dielectrics into silicon transistors and in the develop
 ment of Fin-FET transistors. Besides his position as Managing Director of 
 AMO GmbH\, Prof. Lemme has a new established chair at RWTH Aachen Universi
 ty focusing on nanotechnology\, which is collaborating closely with AMO Gm
