DESCRIPTION:Computation as we know it now is a vast field\, composed of mu
ltiple different paradigms\, and various mathematical techniques\, but at
its core about designing technology to perform tasks for us. However it di
dn’t always look like this\; whilst there is a long history of designing
machines\, Charles Babbage and Ada Lovelace are considered the pioneers o
f computing for their work slightly less than 200 years ago. Since then\,
the field has exploded into what we have today.\nIn this talk I explore th
e development of programming over time\, focusing on what decisions brough
t us to where we are now\, and discuss where we might go next.
