DESCRIPTION:Dexter Energy Transfer is a double electron exchange that allo
ws for selective sensitization of the triplet states of molecule and ions\
, with applications in photocatalysis\, upconversion\, and possibly quantu
m information. Colloidal quantum dots are excellent candidates for such tr
iplet sensitization schemes because of their small “singlet-triplet spli
ttings” and high photoluminescence quantum yields. This talk explores th
e mechanisms of Dexter energy transfer from a quantum dot to either an ads
orbed molecule or an embedded lanthanide ion\, and the application of Marc
us Theory to describe the kinetics of these processes.\n\n
