DESCRIPTION:Abstract: Schools in many parts of the world have been closed
since March\, due to COVID-19. These closures impact negatively families w
ith school-aged children\, and society in general. We used an agent-based
model with realistic representations of different populations to determine
the impact of school reopening on COVID-19 dynamics in two different epid
emiological settings.\n\nBio: Guido is a research faculty at the Departmen
t of Biological Sciences at University of Notre Dame. Guido’s research i
s focused on supporting decision making with the use of mathematical and c
omputational models to understand the dynamics of infectious diseases. In
particular\, current research interests include the use of agent-based mod
els to evaluate the impact of interventions on the COVID-19 pandemic. His
interests also include the evaluation of vaccine impact and vector control
  in vector-borne diseases\, such as dengue\, chikungunya\, and Zika.
