 a dynamical version \nof the stable integral simplicial volume. In both ca
 ses\, \nthe link is the profinite completion of the (fundamental) \ngroup.
  \n\nIn this talk\, I will survey this analogy between group \ntheory and 
 manifold topology and how integral foliated \nsimplicial volume can be vie
 wed as a geometric refinement \nof cost.\n
