DESCRIPTION:The low-energy behaviour of quantum dots coupled to metallic l
eads is\ncommonly associated with a single 'active' dot level\, and hence
with the\nspin-1/2 Kondo efect. But this is not ubiquitous: if several dot
levels\nare relevant to charge transport\, higher spin Kondo efects may a
rise\,\nand have been observed experimentally. This talk will discuss a ra
ther\ngeneral model for a two-level correlated quantum dot\, studied large
ly\nvia RG. Particular consideration will be given to the spin-1 and\nspin
-1/2 Kondo regimes which occur on sweeping the dot levels through\nthe Fer
mi level by tuning a gate voltage\; to the nature of the resultant\nquantu
m phase transition between the regimes arising in a two-lead\,\none-channe
 l setup\; and to comparison to experiment. Time permitting\, I\nmay also d
iscuss some aspects of SU(4) Kondo physics in carbon nanotube\nquantum dot
 s.\n
