DESCRIPTION:NanoMi is a project directed by NRC-Nano\, a National Research
  Council of Canada laboratory in Edmonton. The goal is to develop and docu
 ment a modular open-source electron microscope that researchers can build 
 and possibly incorporate into other vacuum equipment. Using a thermionic e
 lectron source\, we aim for a resolution of a few nm in SEM\, STEM and TEM
  modes\; UHV and field emission may be a future possibility.  The talk wil
 l describe current progress\, along with some electron optics and electron
 -microscope history.
