DESCRIPTION:In this talk I will be giving a brief overview of my research
project with Dr Ayton. The goal of the project is to use wavenumber-freque
ncy spectra to reduce trailing edge noise\, so we give an outline of the t
wo important components of the type of model we will be investigating. Fir
st\, there will be a quick introduction into the wavenumber frequency spec
trum and its use in calculating important quantities in acoustics. Then\,
we give a useful analytic form for the scattered pressure solution from a
gust interacting with a semi-infinite plate of zero thickness. I have spen
t more time investigating the latter\, and will give some preliminary resu
lts for the gust problem with Neumann boundary conditions.
