DESCRIPTION:We would like to invite you to the roundtable “Translational
  Science in the UK”\, the second of the webinar series “Alternatives t
 o academia” in which we will discuss the programs that promote the colla
 boration between academia and industry. Especially\, we will be talking ab
 out Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) schemes. Innovate UK set up the K
 nowledge Transfer Partnership over 40 years ago to improve the competitive
 ness of businesses of any sector by using the skills and knowledge of the 
 UK academic institutions. The programme\, funded extensively by Innovate U
 K\, connects businesses with universities through a KTP associate to devel
 op a joint project. The objective is to commercialise the knowhow of the a
 cademic institutions and help the business grow\, while the associates acq
 uire managerial and marketing skills.\n\nThis roundtable will be of intere
 st to graduates at any level who are looking to gain experience in industr
 y while keeping a close relationship with academia\, and to learn an exten
 sive set of transferable skills. It will also be of interest to establishe
 d researchers that want to commercialise the outcome of their research in 
 a low risk environment as well as to business managers that are looking fo
