DESCRIPTION:There is a current perception that the time for novel material
 s to make the transition to the clinic should be measured in decades rathe
 r than years.  This talk will describe how we have taken two novel materia
 ls technologies: 1) an eye-drop to prevent ocular scarring and 2) a nasal 
 spray to prevent infection with SARS Cov2 to clinic trials in a fraction o
 f that.  This talk will describe the barriers that we have had to overcome
  and how planning ahead can save a lot of time.
