Free\n\n_Polar self Portraits_ was conceived by Zsuzsanna Ardó while work
ing as an artist on a High Arctic expedition in 2014. The project set out
to investigate and chart the relationship between two iconic art genres: t
he landscape of the face\, the self-portrait\, and the face of the land\,
aka the landscape. In the spirit of the project\, the curatorial process f
or Polar self Portrait reached out and connected artists and their work fr
om six continents. An article published about the project can be read at "
 www.opendemocracy.net":https://www.opendemocracy.net/en/polar-self-portrai
ts/.\n\n_Polar self Portraits_ (2016) is now in its second edition: _Polar
self Portraits_2_ (2020). In 2020\, composer John Bostock created music i
nspired by the original soundscape of Arctic glaciers and icebergs and the
imaginative artworks in Polar self Portraits. The world premier of the pi
ece took place in November 2020 in the Arctic\, at the Ilulissat Art Museu
m\, Greenland. The Polar Museum is delighted to present the European premi
er\, together with an invitation to everyone to participate in the "Big Fr
 eeze Challenge":https://www.spri.cam.ac.uk/museum/bigfreeze/selfportrait/
and create your own polar self portrait.\n\nPolar self Portraits and Polar
self Portraits_2 are produced by Creatives without Borders\, www.ardo.org
