DESCRIPTION:Dr. Beth Oakley is a postdoctoral research associate working o
 n the project AIMS-2-TRIALS at the Institute of Psychiatry\, Psychology an
 d Neuroscience (King's College London)\, where she also completed her PhD.
  Her research focuses on mental health in autism\; including its impact on
  outcomes (e.g. quality of life) and potential underpinning mechanisms (e.
 g. sensory sensitivities and emotion awareness/ regulation).\n\nIn this ta
 lk\, Beth will present some of her recent work using data from the AIMS Lo
 ngitudinal European Autism Project - investigating the impact of co-occurr
 ing anxiety and depression on quality of life for autistic people and the 
 role of 'alexithymia' (difficulties identifying and describing emotion) as
  a contributing factor for these co-occurring symptoms.
