 lly\nextended and how the generation of gravitational waves can be\nmodifi
 ed. I will review how these differences can be perturbative or\nnon-pertur
 bative according to the\nspecific theory under scrutiny\, and show how non
 -linearities can\nbecome important in the merger of\ncompact objects. I wi
