DESCRIPTION:Creep is a fundamental component of concrete mechanical behavi
or\, especially regarding civil engineering structures involved in electri
city production.\nThis presentation proposes a few insights on concrete cr
eep modeling from physical processes.\nFirst\, a morphological model of hy
drating cement paste is developed and validated on stiffness measurements.
Special attention is paid to the evolving nature of the microstructure. S
econd\, this model is extended to basic creep\, where ageing stems from th
e ongoing hydration reactions. The challenges associated to building a mic
romechanical model of a microstructure-evolving material\, in the framewor
 k of viscoelasticity\, are overviewed. Third\, a few other examples\, beyo
nd creep\, of application of micromechanics to engineering issues are brie
 fly presented.\n
