-----\n\nTitle: Economics and the low-carbon transition: Understanding pol
icy and its interaction with technology\n\nAbstract:\nWhen it comes to add
ressing dangerous climate change\, economics and the natural sciences have
not always worked well together. This lecture explores why tensions have
arisen and the current state of play regarding economics' contribution to
policy making. It suggests a way forward in which economics and the social
sciences more generally can work with scientists to support policy makers
in guiding and managing the transition towards a net-zero economy.\n\nBio
:\nHector Pollitt is the Chief Economist at Cambridge Econometrics. He has
worked with Cambridge Econometrics' global macro model (E3ME) for more th
an 18 years and in that time has regularly used it for assessing the poten
tial economic impacts of climate policy. His recent contributions to polic
y analysis include inputs to the assessments of the EU's 55% GHG reduction
  for 2030 and Long-Term Strategy for 2050.\n\nZoom link:\n\nTopic: CCfCS M
