 JErd-yrrDMqGNVqzcvUIqrPdTOpdrfY9joP\n\nEvaluating the impact of interventi
ons on public health typically requires diverse data sets\, which can be c
hallenging to integrate in analysis. This seminar focuses on experiences
of integrating epidemiological and ethnographic analysis to strengthen cau
sal inferences\, drawing on two studies of natural experiments (evaluation
s of the public health impacts of free bus travel and reduced street light
ing at night) and a recent systematic review of Qualitative Comparative An
alysis in public health.\n\nBetter integration may require a broader conce
ptualisation of causal relationships\, attention to the timing of integrat
ion within the lifetime of a project\, and disciplinary balance in researc
 h teams.
