DESCRIPTION:Biosketch:\nConnie Eaves (BA and MSc\, Queen’s University\; 
 PhD\, University of Manchester\; post-doctoral studies\, Ontario Cancer In
 stitute\, Toronto) joined the staff of the BC Cancer Agency in 1973 and th
 e University of BC as an Assistant Professor. In 1981\, she and her husban
 d\, Dr. Allen Eaves\, co-founded the Terry Fox Laboratory - now recognized
  worldwide as a premier research group in cancer biology with 15 faculty a
 nd over 100 trainees.  In 2006\, she succeeded her husband as Director of 
 the Terry Fox Laboratory and\, in 2008\, was also appointed Vice President
  Research of the BC Cancer Agency. She has received many awards for her co
 ntributions to stem cell research\, leukemia and breast cancer\, including
  election in 1993 to the Royal Society of Canada and\, most recently\, the
  2009 prestigious Henry Stratton award of the American Society of Hematolo
 gy. She has trained more than 70 talented graduate students and post-docto
 ral fellows and is active in research programs locally\, nationally and in
 ternationally. She has also held many senior elected and volunteer adminis
 trative and board positions and continues to review grants and manuscripts
  for agencies and journals worldwide.
