DESCRIPTION:In this talk I will review work on `decomposition\,' a propert
 y of 2d theories\nwith 1-form symmetries and\, more generally\, d-dim'l th
eories with (d-1)-form\nsymmetries. Decomposition is the observation that
\nsuch quantum field theories\, and various generalizations\, are equivale
nt\nto ('decompose into') disjoint unions of other QFTs. This observation
\nwas first made in 2006\, and in this talk we shall give an overview\nof
work done on the subject since\, concluding with some recent developments.
