DESCRIPTION:Cosmological perturbation theory plays an essential role in un
derstanding the formation of large-scale structure (LSS) of the universe.
\nOn a fairly large scale (long-wavelengths)\, the cosmological fluctuatio
ns can be treated perturbatively using the fluid description. Effective fi
eld theory methods allow us to integrate out the nonlinear\, small-scale\,
modes where the physics gets increasingly complex (dark matter halo dynam
ics\, galaxy formation\, baryonic physics\, etc.). We will discuss the per
formance of the approach in light of the current and upcoming observationa
 l surveys.
