DESCRIPTION:\nWhile the ‘imposter syndrome’ has been somewhat triviali
sed in social media recently\, the impostor phenomenon (as it is more corr
ectly known) is of key concern to those in higher education. Initiatives
aimed at broadening participation of under-represented groups (e.g. women
in STEM\, first in family\, BAME students) will be less than successful un
less ‘feelings of intellectual fraudulence’ associated with ‘otherne
ss’ is addressed and diminished. This of course\, relates to both staff
and students.\n\nThis introductory workshop\, delivered by Dr Theresa Sim
pkin\, aims to highlight the implications of impostor phenomenon in the hi
gher education setting\, highlighting how the often debilitating experienc
e can adversely affect achievement\, engagement and learning experiences o
n campus and into the workplace. The workshop also introduces some respons
es that may assist faculty and support services to address the experience
faced by many students and staff alike. \n\nThis event is hosted and provi
ded by the University of Cambridge Women’s Staff Network and is open to
member and non-members. Further details and booking can be found here htt
