DESCRIPTION:A crisis situation—whether emerging from war\, revolution\,
or violent conflict—elicits the problem of addressing urban heritage as
part of recovery and reconciliation\, leading to the broader question of w
ho has the legitimacy to make such decisions. Given that heritage is a val
ue-laden term that attracts stakeholders with different agendas\, this dec
ision-making process is contentious. This seminar will explore the concept
of heritage as a value in three geographical contexts: Lebanon\, Syria an
 d Tunisia.
