DESCRIPTION:As proposed by Frank Kelly\, network control protocols can be
usefully\ninterpreted as dynamically solving a distributed optimisation pr
oblem or\, more\ngenerally\, as seeking the saddle point of a Langrangian
function. We will\npresent some graphical notation and theoretical results
that we use to explore\ndesign options for dynamics in these systems. The
se techniques allow us to\nassociate a variety of dynamic systems with a g
iven Lagrangian\, in each case\nwith an immediate convergence proof.\n\nIn
the talk we will outline these ideas as they apply to some recent proposa
ls\nin the area of multipath flow control.\n
