DESCRIPTION:Early stages of the pandemic highlighted public concerns about
clearly connecting policy advice to the results\, models and data sources
on which it depends. However\, such concerns reach well beyond the curren
t crisis\, and can unnecessarily damage the credibility of the evidence be
ing provided. As we move into a era where unwelcome policy advice may be m
ore prevalent than ever\, we need to ensure that it is as transparent as p
ossible to reduce the attack surface for those that seek to undermine it\,
as well as making its evidence base as accessible as possible for those w
ho want to help make that evidence stronger. I will discuss a potential ro
 ute out of this quagmire.
