\n\nThis talk is about the journey of an invention from an academic enviro
nment to become a product which is being adopted by the largest energy com
panies on the planet. Corrosion has a big impact in many sectors and it'
s estimated that it costs about 3% of the world's GDP every year. Manufac
turing industries such as power\, chemicals and oil & gas spend hundreds o
f billions of dollars every year to control and mitigate this issue. Corr
osionRADAR was born to address this issue through sensing and predictive a
nalytics and is on the path to make a global impact on pipeline corrosion
through its technology. In this talk\, entrepreneurial experiences in aca
demia through to product launch will be shared within the context of looki
ng at industrial corrosion sensing and predictive analytics.\nThe speaker
will be Dr Prafull Sharma who is a Co-founder and Chief Technology Officer
for CorrosionRADAR Ltd which is pioneering innovative corrosion monitorin
g technologies using Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT). He invented El
ectro-Magnetic Guided Radar (EMGR) for corrosion monitoring which is gaini
ng global traction addressing a big issue for the industry. Prior to his
current role\, Prafull worked for General Electric R&D where he developed
several sensing and automation technologies. Prafull obtained his PhD from
Cranfield University UK. He has over fifteen years experience in industr
ial automation and sensing technology development particularly for the Ene
rgy\, Aviation and Chemical industry. He is also credited with over fifte
 en international patents and innovations.\n
