ective field theory approach to the Standard Model\,\nthe SMEFT\, has been
used to study LHC data with ever increasing theoretical precision and\nso
phistication. However\, the complexity of this theory lead to several barr
iers to \nsubstantial theoretical progress. In particular\, the explosion
in the number of parameters in the SMEFT\nas a function of operator mass d
imension\, and the technical challenge or reformulating\nSM predictions co
nsistently into the SMEFT were very serious problems\, that called into \n
question the possible success and value of the SMEFT physics program over
the long term.\nI will discuss how these challenges have been overcome. Th
e key point leading to this advance\nis the understanding that the project
ion of curved scalar field spaces generated by the Higgs onto \na naive fl
at field space understanding implicitly embedded into the usual SMEFT Lagr
angian and approach was the root\ncause of many problems\, technical chall
enges and confusions. Many outstanding issues have now been addressed and
\nimmediately overcome by reformulating the SMEFT noting its curved scala
r field space(s) - in the Geometric SMEFT. \nSome examples of the benefits
of this approach will be presented\, and explained.
