DESCRIPTION:Since 1995 the Kingfishers Bridge Project (without an apostrop
he!) has transformed 150 acres of arable farmland into a mosaic of wildlif
e habitats. Where tractors once cultivated the soil to grow potatoes and c
ereals there are now meadows with hundreds of wintering wildfowl\, reedbed
s with nesting Marsh Harriers and limestone cliffs with breeding Sand Mart
ins and Kingfishers. The rare Water Germander is now abundant. Anyone lear
ning about management of wetland sites would benefit from this talk\, and
the speed with which wildlife has returned is truly inspiring to hear abou
 t.
