DESCRIPTION:Analyses of ancient DNA has been tremendously successful in el
ucidating patterns of human migration and dispersal. However\, ancient DN
A also contains rich information about human adaptation. As humans spread
throughout the world we encountered a variety of environments from hot des
erts and rainforests to the high arctic. Although our ability to conquer t
hese diverse environments depends largely on technology innovations\, we m
ay also have adapted to them biologically. In this talk I will review wor
k on both ancient and modern DNA that has help shed light on the ways huma
n have adapted to their environment.\n
