DESCRIPTION:The interchange between fluid-like and solid-like tissue state
s is key for multicellular morphogenesis. Recent biophysical models have q
uantitatively predicted and experimentally verified tissue material phase
transitions\, setting tissue rigidity as a bona fide example of a cell col
lective. The next step is to understand the function of cell collectives i
n context\, and specifically how they respond to- and feedback on- mechani
cal and biochemical stimuli. In this talk\, I will present how rigidity pe
rcolation theory can identify in vivo rigidity phase transitions with high
spatiotemporal precision during zebrafish morphogenesis. I will further d
iscuss how we can expand this framework to explore the role of phase trans
itions in key embryogenic processes\, such as germ layer formation and seg
regation. \n\nThis will be a hybrid meeting (online + in-person). Venue de
tails will be announced soon.\n\nWe kindly ask everyone to Register here -
