DESCRIPTION:Ultrarelativistic collisions of heavy ions produce high densit
y\nde-confined QCD matter known as Quark-Gluon Plasma\, which expands as a
\nsmall droplet of nearly perfect fluid. There is mounting experimental\ne
vidence that various signals of collectivity (indicative of soft\npartonic
rescattering and QGP formation) are present in all hadron\ncollisions\, i
ncluding proton-proton and proton-lead systems. The absence\nof measurable
high momentum jet and hadron modification in proton-lead\nand peripheral
lead-lead collisions is however one of outstanding\nproblems in the field
of heavy ion physics. As the medium induced\nmodifications of these hard p
robes is expected to be small\, one needs\nprecision tools to make the dis
covery. In our recent Letter we\ndemonstrate that planned oxygen-oxygen (O
 O) collisions during LHC Run 3\nprovide unprecedented sensitivity to parto
n energy loss in a system only\nseveral times larger than proton-proton co
llisions. With leading and\nnext-to-leading order perturbative QCD calcula
tions of nuclear\nmodification factors\, we show that the baseline in the
absence of\npartonic rescattering is known with up to 2% theoretical accur
acy in\ninclusive OO collisions. We study a broad range of parton energy l
oss\nmodels and we find that the expected signal of partonic rescattering
can\nbe disentangled from the baseline by measuring charged hadron spectra
  in\nthe range 20 GeV< pT < 100 GeV.\n\nRef.: Huss\, Kurkela\, Mazelia
