SUMMARY:Neutrino physics: Ghostly particles whose behaviour has cosmic con
sequences - Dr. Patrick Dunne\, Imperial College London
DTSTART:20211019T183000Z
DTEND:20211019T194500Z
UID:TALK163099@talks.cam.ac.uk
CONTACT:Xuchen Wang
DESCRIPTION:From its proposal to explain the apparent violation of energy
conservation in beta decay to its strange behaviour as it travels long dis
tances\, the neutrino has always been one of the least well understood par
ts of our understanding of particle physics. Now there are indications tha
t neutrinos could hold the key to explaining why our universe is made of m
atter and not antimatter. This talk will explain the history of the neutri
no\, its strange behaviour and how recent findings could have cosmological
  implications.
