DESCRIPTION:Neutrinos are ghost-like particles that can escape from places
that are otherwise completely unaccessible—including the interior of ex
 ploding stars. In this talk\, I will introduce Hyper-Kamiokande\, a next g
eneration neutrino detector that is under construction in Japan. I will di
scuss its neutrino astronomy programme\, with a special focus on supernova
neutrinos. Finally\, I will close by introducing the SuperNova Early Warn
ing System (SNEWS)\, which will combine the powers of neutrino physicists
and electromagnetic astronomers to extract as much knowledge as possible f
rom the next supernova in our Milky Way.
