DESCRIPTION:Due to COVID-19 restrictions\, this talk will be held online v
ia Zoom and with Youtube live streaming (https://youtu.be/V62aDTEmygs).\n\
nIf you would like to join the Zoom meeting for a more interactive experie
nce\, sign up here [https://forms.gle/NkSwbhA2S6KFj3p97] and we will send
you the Zoom link prior to the event.\n\nHere is a short abstract for the
talk.\n\n“X-rays provide a unique spectroscopic view of molecules and ma
terials\, from an element-specific and orbital-selective frame of referenc
 e. Femtosecond and attosecond X-ray and extreme ultraviolet pulses (XUV) a
re used to probe curve crossings and conical intersections in molecules\,
electron and hole carriers in solids\, charges transported across junction
s\, and coherent phonon motions\, revealing breathtaking 'movies' of novel
\, ultrashort dynamical processes.”\n\nAbout the speaker: Professor Step
hen Leone is the John R. Thomas Endowed Chair in Physical Chemistry\, Prof
essor of Chemistry and Physics at the University of California\, Berkeley\
, and faculty investigator\, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. His re
search interests are ultrafast and attosecond laser investigations of atom
 ic\, molecular\, and solid state dynamics.\n
