DESCRIPTION:Searches for beyond the standard model (BSM) physics are an in
 tegral part of the ATLAS physics program. In this seminar\, I will briefly
  motivate the need for BSM physics and elaborate upon two possible extensi
 ons to the SM: Supersymmetry and simplified dark-matter models. An overvie
 w of the recent ATLAS search using the bb+MET final state will be presente
 d\, and the new methods used to enhance the sensitivity\, when compared wi
 th the previous 36fb^-1 result\, will be discussed. \n\n
