DESCRIPTION:The proposal is to present an overview of approaches to improv
 ing clinical\npractice then to introduce methods for investigating barrier
 s to change. The\ntenet is that appropriate investigation of barriers is a
  prerequisite to the\ndevelopment of change interventions which might incl
 ude system changes.\n\nStephen Rogers is a Consultant in Public Health at 
 Northamtonshire PCT. He previous worked at University College London on a 
 series of "Evidence into Practice" initiatives and on patient safety in pr
 imary care. He is currently the lead for the implemntation of NICE guidanc
 e in his healthcare community and is seconded for part of his time to the 
 Leicestershire\, Northamptonshire and Rutland CLAHRC (Collaborations for L
 eadership in Applied Health Research and Care).
