DESCRIPTION:Life on earth likely emerged from a self-replicating RNA molec
ule billions of years ago but we still live very much in an RNA world. Rib
onucleic acid or RNA is the only direct product of the genomes of all livi
ng organisms. Initially understood mostly as an intermediate between genes
and proteins\, the molecular machines of life\, it is now clear that RNA
is a major substrate of cellular computation and decision making. This tal
k will focus on many facets of RNA biology: from viruses to epigenetic inh
 eritance.
