DESCRIPTION:Abstract: \nCompetence and intellect will get you onto the fir
 st rung of the managerial ladder.\nProgress beyond will however be more de
 pendent on your people skills and your\nvisionary capability. Becoming an 
 effective leader in engineering requires emotional\nintelligence in suppor
 t of IQ and the courage to go with your "gut" instinct rather than\nbe a f
 ollower of best practice.\n\nDuring this talk you will:\n\n* Learn how to 
 navigate the stormy waters of organisational politics\n\n* How to build ra
 pport and master the art of influencing others\n\n* Find out about researc
 h into the "engineering stereotype" and gain insight into\n   how reputati
 ons are formed and what you can do to enhance your own\n\n* Know how to bu

 r organisation\n\nSpeaker: Dr Robina Chatham\, BSc PhD MIMechE CEng\nDr Ro
 bina Chatham qualified as both Mechanical Engineer and Neuroscientist. Her
 \ncareer commenced within the shipbuilding industry\, where she pioneered 
 the\nintroduction of computing onto the shop floor. Robina subsequently fo
 llowed a career\nin IT\, which culminated in the position of European IT D
 irector for a leading\nmerchant bank. In 1996 Robina joined Cranfield Scho
 ol of Management as a Lecturer\nin Management Information Systems. Robina 
 now runs her own training company\nand is also a Visiting Fellow at Cranfi
 eld School of Management. Her prime focus is\non helping senior managers t
 o improve their personal impact and influence. Other\nareas of specialism 
 include the building of high performance teams and relationship\nmanagemen
