SUMMARY:Who Cares About Hornworts? - Dr Eftychios Frangedakis\, Molecular
Physiology Group\, Department of Plant Sciences
DTSTART:20220303T130000Z
DTEND:20220303T140000Z
UID:TALK165097@talks.cam.ac.uk
CONTACT:Kumari Billakurthi
DESCRIPTION:For those who are about to Google… Hornworts together with m
osses and liverworts form the monophyletic group of bryophytes. Bryophytes
are the proposed closest sister group to all other land plants (vascular
plants). Thus\, hornworts reside in a very important phylogenetic position
with regards to our understanding of the genetic basis of land plant evol
ution. This talk will be a short overview of our journey to establish Anth
oceros agrestis as a hornwort experimental system.\n\nContact reception@pl
antsci.cam.ac.uk for a Zoom link prior to a talk if you are not on our mai
ling list. Due to having to go online\, we are restricting the talks to Un
iversity of Cambridge and alumni to keep them as informal as possible.
