DESCRIPTION:An introduction to the basic principle of synthetic biology an
 d the idea of standardized parts.\n\nThis workshop will introduce the conc
 ept of "standardized parts" in biological engineering. Analogous to the st
 andardization in other fields of engineering\, synthetic biologists have d
 ivided up natural and artificial sequences of DNA into interchangeable bui
 lding units. We'll present what standardized biological parts look like\, 
 how they are assembled into units for expressing recombinant proteins\, an
 d some examples ranging from cellular force gauges to inflammation sensors
