 no aspect of German culture untouched. A crucial figure in this process wa
 s the writer\, Christian Felix Weiße – whose role in the cultural trans
 fer between Britain and Germany\, however\, has been all but forgotten. Th
 is talk reconsiders Weiße as the most prolific German translator of Engli
 sh literature in his lifetime\, a singularly productive intercultural entr
