DESCRIPTION:The SARS-CoV-2 pandemic has led to the production of massive a
mounts of sequencing data. As the virus evolves\, it is vital that this da
ta is tracked and analysed in real time. This talk will present a brief ov
erview of how researchers use sequences to track the spread and evolution
of SARS-CoV-2. I will discuss the development of Pangolin\, a tool which c
lassifies a sequence's position within the larger phylogenetic tree quickl
y and accurately\, touching on several of the challenges we've faced in de
veloping this tool in the context of a rapidly changing data landscape.
