DESCRIPTION:Over the last few decades\, astronomers discovered nearly 5\,0
00 exoplanets orbiting around stars other than the Sun. The discovery sugg
ests that planet formation is ubiquitous in our galaxy. However\, exoplane
ts exhibit great diversity\, raising challenging questions about planet fo
rmation processes. One of the best ways to learn about planet formation pr
ocesses is to observe planets while they are forming. The task of observin
g young\, forming planets has long been very challenging\, but it has fina
lly become possible with increasingly powerful observing facilities and te
chniques. In this talk\, I will introduce how planet-disk interaction theo
 ries\, along with numerical simulations\, state-of-the-art observations\,
and machine learning\, can help us better understand planet formation proc
 esses and planet-forming environments.
